Stringer, is the title of the cover painting by Fred Helier. The pieces on the album were written under the title "Four Pieces for Orchestra", each of which focused on specific instrumental groupings/soloists or the full ensemble. The painting represented a departure for Helier as indeed these four pieces did in terms of our way of working, so in this respect I found a common bond. Since the recording we have developed certain ideas further with a small change in personnel that now includes Radu Malfatti, Heinz Becker, Mark Charig and Elton Dean.
